In a thrilling announcement with softball fans buzzing, the 2024 Big 12 Softball Awards have been revealed, showcasing an impressive display of talent from the University of Texas and the University of Oklahoma. Texas’ Reese Atwood snagged the title of Player of the Year, while the Longhorns’ head coach, Mike White, was awarded Coach of the Year. Not to be outdone, Oklahoma’s Kinzie Hansen was named Defensive Player of the Year. Meanwhile, Oklahoma State’s Lexi Kilfoyl claimed the Pitcher of the Year title, and Texas’ Teagan Kavan was awarded Freshman of the Year. Oklahoma led all teams with nine players on the first and second teams, followed by Texas with eight, OSU and Texas Tech with four, and UCF and Baylor with three. The Big 12 Conference continues to be a hotbed of softball talent, and these awards are a testament to these exceptional athletes’ hard work and dedication.
