UTSA Roadrunners are coming to the ATX Saturday to take on the No. 2 Texas Longhorns. Off the heels of the road-win over defending national champions Michigan, Texas has their eyes on UTSA at home. As we all played witness to Notre Dame’s loss to Northern Illinois, Texas coach Steve Sarkisian reminded his players that this is not the time to get complacent and it is a “good reminder that we’re entitled to nothing.”
Texas routed Colorado State University in game 1 and earned the win versus Michigan on the road 31-12; UTSA comes to Austin 1-1 after losing their annual I-35 rivalry game with Texas State, 49-10 last Saturday.
UTSA coach Jeff Traylor spent time in 2015-2016 as a member of Texas’ coaching staff in 2015-16 stated that there have been four instances in his five-year tenure with the Roadrunners that his team “had their teeth kicked in. We’ve responded well every time.
“But the difference is we didn’t have the University of Texas football team waiting for us,” Traylor added. “Texas is talented up and down the roster — they are massive and they are very fast. We will be facing the best team we’ve ever faced since I’ve been (at UTSA). We will have to be a lot better to compete on Saturday.”
The Longhorns won the only other previous faceoff 41-20 in 2022, also played AT DKR.
Kickoff for Texas vs UTSA is at 6pm and will air on ESPN.
