Trey’s #getONNIT Blog – Week 9

Though the headline says ‘Week 9’, it’s really the 12th of 13 weeks in the Horn’s partnership with Onnit Gym. So yeah, I’m a little behind. I’d planned on writing one blog entry the week after my workouts with Onnit ended. But that means I need to complete three between now and next Friday. Here we go…

After injuring my knee, my workouts consisted of upper body strength training and boxing. Boxing was a blast. Punching into mitts is a fantastic, non-destructive way to relieve stress.

This week, we shifted back to lower body strength training. The circuits that my trainer, Chris, put me through on Tuesday were tough. How tough? Tough enough that I’ve moved like a brittle, old man the last two days. Most embarrassingly, I’ve had to get in and out of a seated position as gingerly as possible.

Despite my temporary disability, this soreness is a good thing. Chris understood the proper activities to test my knee enough without risking further injury. Thankfully, my knee held up and is ready for a greater challenge. That challenge will be next Tuesday and Thursday. My final week at Onnit Gym. Until then…
