Trey’s #getONNIT Blog – Week 8

Viceland has made a name for itself among a sea of channels by creating some of the most original content on TV. One of their shows, SLUTEVER, seeks out and profiles out-of-the-ordinary sexual behavior.

An episode from the current season explores eco-sexuality. That is, people who believe that having sex with the Earth can save it. You read that right. As comedian Mike Lawrence said on my midday show, it’s people who think tree-hugging means getting to first base.

Although I haven’t watched the full episode, its preview includes sex toys made of crystals, someone trying to bang a shrub, and another person humping dirt.

I enjoy playing sand volleyball. As much as I love the sport, I’ve never considered fucking the sand. Unfortunately, the sand fucked me a few weeks ago. As a result, a knee injury is hampering my training at Onnit Gym.

Thankfully, the staff at Onnit doesn’t skip a beat under such circumstances. My trainer Chris came up with an alternate workout on the spot that eased the stress on my legs. Meanwhile, Aimee Giles and John Wolfe recommended I try dry-needling.

Dry-needling combines elements of acupuncture, trigger point therapy, and active release technique to address the root of the problem. Often times, pain in one body part stems from another body part not working properly.

Sam Sneed from Next Level Chiropractic ran me through a series of tests and discovered the range of motion in my right hip was severely limited. That caused my knee to overcompensate, overwork, and eventually strain from fatigue.

After the discovery, he dry-needled my abs, hip, hamstring, and a few other spots on my right leg. There’s some discomfort, but I wouldn’t call it pain. Each needle goes into the skin for 5-10 seconds. The entire process lasted less than 20 minutes.

As a result, I felt immediate relief in my knee. I’m confident that a few more sessions with Sam will help my injury fully recover. In the meantime, I look forward to meeting up with Chris every Tuesday and Thursday to continue fine-tuning my core and upper body with bench press, pull-ups, crunches, boxing, and more.

And don’t worry…no trees, bushes, dirt, or sand are ever sexually accosted while training at Onnit Gym.
