Texas Softball Earns Trip to Seattle Regional

The Texas Longhorns’ Softball program earned a bid to Seattle, Washington for their 14th straight appearance in the NCAA Softball Tournament. Texas will face the Big Ten Tournament Champion Minnesota Golden Gophers on Friday, May 18, at 8 PM Central Time on ESPN. They will also join the Boise State Broncos and the host #5 seed Washington Huskies at the Seattle Regional.

Texas went 32-24 on the season finishing 5th in the Big 12 regular season standings and 3rd in the Big 12 tournament after defeating Texas Tech with a score of 9-2 in the 3rd place game and tying a season high with 14 hits. Minnesota won the Big 10 Tournament and finished the season 39-15. Boise State captured the Mountain West Championship following a 40-14 regular season. The Washington Huskies finished with a record of 44-8 including a 2-1 win over Texas in Austin on February, 21.

The Longhorns are led by a pair of Humble, Texas natives which include freshman standout Janae Jefferson, .404 BA, 11 2B, 30 Runs, 24 RBI and sophomore Kaitlyn Washington, .333 BA, 20 Runs, 3 HR, 19 RBI. The Golden Gophers have a talented freshman of their own in Ellee Jenson, .411 BA, 37 Runs, 5 RBI and a capable pitcher in Amber Fisher, 26-9 W-L, 1.59 ERA, 230 Ks.

Texas A&M, Prairie View A&M, and Baylor will compete in the College Station Regional while Texas State will compete in the Los Angeles Regional.
