Spurs Cruise Over Suns 129-81

The San Antonio Spurs (35-21) started their annual Rodeo Road Trip Wednesday night with the first stop against the Phoenix Suns (18-38). Before the game Greg Popovich changed his lineup, starting Davis Bertans instead Paul Gasol. San Antonio responded, jumping out to a 28-9 lead after the first quarter, and cruising to a 129-81 win over the Suns, the third largest margin of victory in franchise history for the Spurs, and the worst margin of loss in Suns history. LaMarcus Aldridge led the Spurs scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds in 27 minutes.

The Suns struggled offensively without their leading scorer, Devin Booker (hip), shooting 34 percent from the field, and 9.4 percent from the three-point line. Alex Len led the Suns with 14 points. The Spurs shot 49.5 percent from the field and 50 percent from the three-point line.

Dejounte Murray left the game at the 5:30 minute mark in the second quarter, going down after a layup. Murray did not return to the game and was listed as having a sprained left ankle. Rudy Gay (heel) and Kawhi Leonard (injury management) did not play for the Spurs. Devin Booker (hip), Isaiah Canaan (leg), Brandon Knight (Knee), and Alan Williams (Knee) were out for the Suns.
