Date Night Done Right – 6-Pack

1. TONIGHT: Date Night Done Right pick, and a great investment before the UT vs. USC weekend festivities begin. The Alamo Drafthouse on Slaughter Lane, at the Villiage AND the Lakeline locations are all hosting a Clueless Movie Party. THE the movie that everybody loves (or loves to pretend to hate) Alicia Silverstone’s Clueless, but party style. That means instead of the usual “be quiet” policy – the crowd in encouraged to recite their favorite lines, there are always fun relevant party favors involved and generally it’s like watching a favorite movie with 200 or so of your favorite friends (while being served great food and drink). You’re welcome y’all. Click HERE to find the theater near you to snag your seats.

2. TONIGHT:  maybe better suited for you singletons out there, it’s Nerd Nite #106 at the North Door. Nerd Night is a monthly event held in more than 90 cities, globally, where presenters give 20 minute-ish presentations and listeners learn about anything from the science of the Simpsons to the genealogy of zombie insects. What’s not to love? All ages are welcome. More info HERE.

3. THURSDAY:   is a music break! At noon, I go live with Madison Cunningham, a singer songwriter with a haunting achy gorgeous voice. She’s playing Bass Concert Hall on Thursday night (see www.MadisonCunningham.com for more info or tickets) but I’m excited to be featuring her in the livestreaming concert series I host, Austin360 Studio Sessions presented by Bud Light. We’re live at noon on Thursday and you can tune in live – or after the show – on the Austin360 Facebook page. Just go to www.facebook.com/Austin360 and then click on the “video” option (you’ll see it in a column on the left side of that page) and then scroll down until you see the Austin360 Studio Sessions playlist. Madison will be our 41st episode. You can also watch it live from your cell phone, desktop, whatever by going to our website: www.Austin360.com/StudioSessions which will broadcast live from noon until 12:30pm at which point it will flip back into the website again. She is STELLAR. Join us.

4. SATURDAY:  I bring you this proper pre-USC game celebration: the Wright Bros. Brew & Brew beer coffee and beer bar will be celebrating their 5th year in business, and in their own words, surviving the surrounding street construction, SX jumping the shark, and many nearby high rises being built. They’re celebrating “all damn day” with brunch bagels, coffee and doughnut pairings, beer boards from Mumford, crowlers from Mumford, better half pastrami sandwiches and more. They’re located just east of 35 on San Marcos street… hence me suggesting you kick off what’s sure to be a long wonderful football day with proper celebratory sustenance. www.TheBrewAndBrew.com for more information.

5. Tuesday:  September 18th, the Austin American-Statesman is bringing back their wildly successful speaker series, 50ATX… and one of our awesome speakers is our very own Erin Hogan from the 104.9 The Horn FM’s weekday morning show. 50ATX is a speaker series that we at the Statesman host, targeted towards active Austinites who are 50 or older. It takes place in our offices from 11am to 1pm, we provide a free lunch, free and easy parking and great community. This 50ATX event will feature Erin Hogan, Rovert Potts, John Hunewill and Saleem Assaf who are talking sports, the future of regenerative medicine and about how hearing is the new seeing, respectively. www.50ATX.com for more details or simply reserve your tickets HERE.

6. Friday, September 28th – Finally, I’m looking ahead a few weeks for this one, because I fully expect this Wine Riot to sell out and I don’t want you guys to miss out. Wine Riot is my HOT Ticket pick (which is my fancy way of saying hurry up and get your tickets cause it will be a great date night but they’re totally going to sell out so GO GET YOUR TICKETS ALREADY)! Wine Riot describes itself as an incredible, instructional and interactive event. Guests get tickets ahead of time for the Friday September 28th evening event or the Saturday September 29th daytime or evening event (the Longhorns are away playing the Kansas State Wildcats that Saturday, game time is TBD). Guests will enjoy unlimited tasting of wines from around the world, souvenir glasses, local food vendors, cute crash course tasting note classes like Wine 101 and Crash Courses (which explains the different wine categories) AND OF COURSE tons of Instagram friendly photo ops. Tickets start at $65. Wine Riot happens at the Fair Market on east 5th street. Get you and yours set up with tickets HERE.
