Madness of March: Day 1 Recap
It was the first day of March Madness and most teams that analysts thought would survive and advance did. Unfortunately for the Maryland Terrapins and their loyal followers, they are alone as the only upset in the tournament. The Terps fell to the 11th seeded Xavier Musketeers 76-65. Melo Trimble was held to 13 points and made a crucial turnover in the 2nd half that killed the late Terps chances of a late scoring run. Twelfth seeded Middle Tennessee State were victorious over the fifth seeded Minnesota Golden Gophers 81-72. This game looked like an upset, but many people forget that the Blue Raiders upset the Michigan State Spartans in last year’s tournament. The Blue Raiders won 30 games this season and were obviously seeded inaccurately. Day 2 of March Madness continues today.
