Longhorns Fall Short In Battle With The Bulldogs

The Texas Longhorns (8-13) traveled to Athens, Georgia to battle the Bulldogs (13-8) in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge on Saturday. The Longhorns fought hard, leading for most of the contest, but failed to finish off the Bulldogs. Georgia defeated the Texas Longhorns  59-57, behind a 21-point performance from (F) Yante Maten.

The Longhorns led the Bulldogs at the break 32-23, but a 10-5 run by Georgia in the 2nd half gave the Bulldogs just enough of  a lead to hold off the Longhorns, as Jarrett Allen’s hook shot rattled in and out of the basket while time expired. The Longhorns look towards a tough Big 12 contest as they will host Texas Tech (15-6) next Wednesday.

Texas had solid backcourt play from Davis (11 PTS 4-8 FG) and Roach (4-8 FG), but was led by Jones’ 16 PTS and 8 AST. Jones came off the bench playing 33 minutes and finishing 5-11 FG and 4-5 from the charity stripe.
