Hurricane Harvey Collection Set for Austin

The University of Texas is joining forces with the University of Houston to bring goods and supplies to areas of Southeast Texas affected by the devastation of Hurricane Harvey

HOUSTON — When the State of Texas is need, Texans answer the call. That’s never been more true than now with the devastating effects of Hurricane Harvey across the Texas Gulf Coast and catastrophic flooding in the Houston area.

With the Houston Football team evacuated to Austin, a call has been put out to the nine FBS teams in the state of Texas who are at home for the opening weekend of college football season and may have equipment trucks available.

Trucks and drivers from those schools who are able to participate will be staging in north Austin at Kidd Roofing (1212 E. Anderson Lane, Austin, TX 78752 – between Luby’s and Wal-Mart) and south Austin at Travis Roofing Supply Building (5010 Burleson Rd., Austin, TX 78744) on Thursday from 1-5 p.m. where student-athletes from the Houston Football program will collect items and load them into the trucks for a Friday morning convoy to Houston.
