Hamilton Leads Texas Past Texas State in Mid-Week Action

Texas Longhorns baseball swept the season series against the Texas State Bobcats with a 6-2 win on Tuesday night at UFCU Disch-Falk Field. The game featured a 2 hour lightning delay that limited Longhorn starting pitcher Matteo Bocchi to only 4 innings of work in which he tossed 5 strikeouts and gave up 1 run. Texas put their foot down early taking a 5-1 lead after the 2nd inning behind the hot bat of San Marcos native David Hamilton. Hamilton homered in his first at bat and brought in another in the 2nd inning. Hamilton finished 4-5 with 1 Run and 2 RBI.

Texas Head Coach David Pierce took a different approach to this game and the last week of the regular season with comments after the game that, “For a lot of the season I picked them apart. I pick them apart about every little thing that makes a difference. Today I started flipping that. I told them how great they were today and I’m going to continue that because they’ve earned the right to have trust from the coaches and to understand that we’re busting it, we’ve had a lot of success and now it’s time to have some fun.”

The win comes after 9 days off following the series win at Texas Tech. The Longhorns will conclude the regular season with a 3 game home series against TCU that begins on Thursday and wraps up on Saturday.
